Throughout his youth, the Rev. Dr. Stewart Pirrilliat has overcome the grips of the Oakland streets to become a Sergeant in the United States Marines. He then feels the calling of outreach to become the Founder and Executive Director of “Man 2 Man - Urban Youth Advocate” - a multifaceted intervention, recovery, and educational support system for young men of color. The organization’s objective is to help these young men become the best version of themselves, to become better fathers, husbands, and partners.
Tune in, as Dr. Pirrilliat talks about his early years, with his love of playing basketball, connecting with San Quentin inmates. He also shares some staggering numbers on fatherless families in the inner city, as well as San Quentin inmates coming from fatherless families. Dr. Pirrilliat also talks about the importance of being completely transparent, and being the example of trust for young men to feel emotionally expressive in a safe space.
